This edition presents the Persian translation of the ASCE Manual of Practice (MOP) 136-2018, Concrete Foundations for Turbine Generators, sponsored by the Energy Division of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The manual provides comprehensive guidance for the analysis, design, and construction of concrete foundations for turbine generators, reflecting decades of research, practical experience, and evolving industry standards in the United States.

The Persian preface highlights the historical development of turbine foundation design:

In 1987, the Task Committee on Turbine Foundations for Fossil Power Plants and the Nuclear Energy Committee of ASCE’s Energy Division published the first comprehensive guide for the design of steam turbine foundations. Since that publication, significant changes have occurred in design codes, computational methods for structural analysis, and industry demands for precision and performance. In April 2014, a new Task Committee was formed under the leadership of the ASCE Energy Division Director, G.J. (Greg) Soles, to update and expand guidance based on 30 years of research, design, and construction experience in turbine and generator foundations across the United States.

Turbine and generator foundations require advanced expertise in structural and geotechnical dynamics, as well as close collaboration with machinery specialists and engineers from other disciplines. Evolving equipment requirements, updated code interpretations, and higher performance expectations pose new challenges for design engineers.

This Persian translation ensures that these guidelines, originally documented in English technical language, are fully accessible to Persian-speaking engineers and professionals. It preserves the precise technical concepts while accounting for linguistic and cultural differences, making the MOP 136 a practical and reliable reference for analysis, design, and construction of turbine generator foundations in modern engineering practice.
